With an annual output of 600 kWh and an electricity price of CHF 0.29/kWh, this translates to savings of CHF 174 per year. This means your balcony power plant will pay for itself in 8-9 years. With a lifespan of approximately 15-20 years, your balcony power plant will continue to produce free electricity for a long time.

Solution for tenants

You would like to produce your own solar power, but you're not sure what you need to consider?

The following applies: For anything mounted outside the rented property (specifically: outside the balcony railing or the facade), tenants need the landlord's consent. This is because the landlord (and not the tenant) could be held liable for any damage caused by a falling solar panel. This has often resulted in tenants not receiving permission and thus not being able to benefit from balcony solar installations.

Landlords can grant permission on the condition that the panels are professionally installed and that the tenants assume liability for any damages. A sample agreement was drawn up for this purpose in cooperation with Casafair and the Tenants' Association. (Source: topten.ch)
