Between your solar panel and your battery sits the component that decides charging time, yield and lifespan: the charge controller. Save here, and you waste sunlight. The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/20 is built for everyone who refuses to do exactly that — in the camper, on the boat, at the garden shed or in an off-grid setup. And with 20 A and up to 100 V panel voltage, it's the right choice as soon as the system grows a little.

MPPT. The top class of charge controllers. Maximum Power Point Tracking is the premier league of solar charging. A microprocessor determines the optimal operating point of your module several times per second and converts surplus voltage into additional charge current. The result isn't a marketing promise but physics: shorter charging times and the best possible yield from every hour of sun. Where simple PWM controllers leave yield on the table, the MPPT brings it into the battery.

Bluetooth is already built in. No extra module, no cable. The SmartSolar communicates out of the box. With the free VictronConnect app you read yield, state of charge and history straight on your phone — and set the controller to your battery in a few taps. Full control, no tools, no cable clutter.

For every battery you run. Lead-acid, AGM, GEL or lithium — the SmartSolar 100/20 charges them all with the right profile. You pick your battery type in the app, and the controller applies the matching charge program. That way you get maximum capacity while protecting your battery's lifespan.

More headroom for bigger systems. On a 12 V battery you run at least one 12 V panel, ideally two 12 V panels in series or one 24 V panel, at most three 12 V panels in series. With up to 100 V solar open-circuit voltage and 20 A charge current, you have noticeably more headroom than on the 75/15. Important: mind the open-circuit voltage of your panels — it must never exceed 100 V.
