With the 375W flex Plug & Play solar system, you can produce your own solar power directly on your balcony and become more independent from the grid. This makes it easy to reduce your electricity costs. The system is incredibly easy to install: simply connect the components, plug it into an outdoor socket – and your solar power plant is up and running. The included 5-meter cable with a Swiss plug makes connection particularly convenient. The set is ideal as an entry-level solution for generating your own electricity on your balcony. The modules are sized to fit almost any standard balcony railing. With the included installation kit, complete with stainless steel cable ties, you can mount the module securely and stably in no time. The 300W microinverter included in the set complies with Swiss ESTI standards and feeds up to 300 watts directly into the grid via the wall socket. Thanks to the app, you can conveniently monitor the power feed-in at any time. Good to know: In Switzerland, you can install plug-and-play systems with a maximum output of 600W yourself without a permit. It's only important that you inform your grid operator. For larger systems, installation by a qualified electrician is required. Also note that only one plug-and-play system may be connected to each outdoor socket – the sockets are usually protected by a residual current device (RCD). This way, you can get started with solar energy simply, safely, and without much effort.

Solution for tenants

You would like to produce your own solar power, but you're not sure what you need to consider?

The following applies: For anything mounted outside the rented property (specifically: outside the balcony railing or the facade), tenants need the landlord's consent. This is because the landlord (and not the tenant) could be held liable for any damage caused by a falling solar panel. This has often resulted in tenants not receiving permission and thus not being able to benefit from balcony solar installations.

Landlords can grant permission on the condition that the panels are professionally installed and that the tenants assume liability for any damages. A sample agreement was drawn up for this purpose in cooperation with Casafair and the Tenants' Association. (Source: topten.ch)

You can find the sample agreement here.

We're keeping our fingers crossed that you'll soon be able to produce your own solar power and do some good.
